Branding Yourself With The @ Brand Symbol

Branding for the Internet. How to Brand Yourself Online

How do you brand yourself on the Internet? Do you have branding strategies? Do you have corporate or personal branding?

internet-brandingGreat news is that @ this time, we live in a society where we have more than one address. No, I’m not referring to a beach house or mountain retreat as a second home.

Actually, many of us probably have a number of different addresses. So, where do we reside on the Internet? Where, on the Internet, is our business address? And how can we use @ to brand ourselves? Consider this strategy:

Imagine meeting someone for the first time and introducing yourself as “I’m@joesomebody.com”. Yet this is happening more often than you may realize; especially at business conventions, seminars, meetings. After all, this IS your business online and you want people to remember your address.

When I first read about the frequency of peopleĀ  using the @ symbol to introduce themselves, it made perfect sense. This has become who we are and what better way to say it?

Our Internet presence makes a huge statement about us and our businesses. By having a domain name as your identity, people tend to remember you more. And, by going to your website, they’ll learn a whole lot more about you than just shaking your hand in a crowd.

However, even if you don’t have a domain name you want to promote, you can still brand yourself with your Twitter or Facebook ID. Example: “Hi, I’m galew2@twitter.com!”

Don’t be surprised if people do a double-take. “Excuse me?” they might respond. More and more, people are using their online IDs and their website addresses to brand their personalities and their professions. So, start using it to your advantage.
