Building E-Bay Inventory For Holiday Selling

Building E Bay Inventory For Holiday SellingEverybody’s heard about Christmas in July . . . you know, buying things to put away for Christmas 6 months hence. July is also when trade shows are held for retailers to purchase Christmas inventory. While some people are thinking about beaches and barbeques, others are thinking WAAAAY ahead.

With that in mind, I’ve decided to ready myself for the holidays EARLY. It’s never too early (or too late) to add inventory to an Ebay store. So what if it doesn’t sell today or tomorrow? Past experience tells me it WILL sell, eventually. At 2 cents per month for store stock, that’s only $40 per month for 2,000 items. “Sell just a few items and it pays for itself,” I tell myself.

My goal is to have 2,000 items listed by the end of September. When the holiday buying season comes around I’ll be stocked and ready to SELL, SELL, SELL. Last Christmas I did extremely well with sales. This year I hope to exceed it.

Animals (and people) are creatures of habit and I’m no exception. My habit is playing when I should be working (i.e. listing Ebay items). But that’s about to change. “Don’t put off ’til tomorrow what you can do today,” is an old classic saying. My camera’s ready.

Let’s see now, 2,000 items minus the 850 I already have in my EBay store equals 1150 listings to do @ 15 minutes each will take 287.5  hours. Hmmm. Divide that by 90 days and I need to spend a little over 3 hours per day listing. Of course, that’s if I list 7 days a week. Four hours per day would be listing 16 items. Maybe I could double up on the rainy days or week-ends so I can take a day off when it’s nice outside or I want to go somewhere. By the end of 90 days (3 months), I’ll have 1440 new things in my Ebay store and have a total of 2290. Take away 290 sales during the months of July, August, and September, and I will have met my goal on the 30th!

Ok. I’m ready to LIST. How about you?
