EBay Policies and Policy Changes

I sell on EBayHave you ever noticed how the words “policy” and “police” are similar? It reminds me how one can gain control over others simply by enforcing a policy. It happens daily in the corporate world as well as dictating rules in the social and family environment.

Yet, rules, laws, and policies are here for our protection and to regulate some type of order and consistency.

BUT, there is an old adage, “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it!”

I sell on EBayThis is my feeling toward EBay. One day I got a phone call (as a Power Seller, EBay actually CALLS me), telling me about changes to the EBay policies. I was told if any of my listings didn’t comply with the new rules, that my listings would be taken down.

I asked, “You mean I would have to re-list from over 1500 items in my EBay store?”

The answer was “Yes, if they’re not in compliance”. So, I changed the settings in the TurboLister and continued along with new listings.

About a month later, here come the emails: “Your listing has ENDED”. I got about 20+ per day and can’t possibly relist that many in one day. I figured 1,000 items at 20 per day would take me almost 2 months – and that’s if I sat here EVERY day, 7 days a week, which I don’t do.

So, I’m just venting. I love selling on EBay. Having an EBay store has allowed me to have extra income doing something from home.

Vintage jewelry sells all over the world. Women buy vintage jewelry because it’s a remembrance of the past, or because they used to one “just like it” or because their mother had one “just like it” or, for whatever reason.

Vintage jewelry is small and lightweight. Doesn’t take up much inventory space; easy to pack and ship.

EBay often changes its rules and the look of the site. Each time they do that, it forces the sellers to adapt. They have a LOT of sellers. Some features of a few years ago they have abandoned. Other new features are better.

BUT, sometimes it’s best just to Leave Things Alone!
