Healthcare Plan: The Freedom To Choose And Why The Price Paid For Health Is Unhealthy

People have been looking for overall fixes in regards to health care reform. One signature on a piece of paper can change the way people live and will be able to live in the future.

The people of the United States are losing their freedoms.

1. We’ve lost the freedom to choose our own individual health care. The government now owns the right to tell us what to do about our health insurance and how to do it.

2. We’ve lost the freedom to have our young students choose their own lender for their college education. The government now owns the college student loan program.

3. Years ago, people lost the freedom to raise their children without government intervention. The government is taking over the lives of American people under the guise of “all for one and one for all”.

The American Pledge of Allegiance states the following: “…and for the REPUBLIC for which it stands, one nation, under God, INDIVISIBLE, and with LIBERTY and justice for all”.

Freedom is what has attracted immigrants from around the world to flee their own countries of oppression in hopes of finding the liberty of which we speak.

Let’s take a look at those powerful capitalized words the United States of America was founded upon.

A Republic is a country ruled by laws that apply to all. Law abiding citizens rule the government, not the other way around. Lawful citizens decide which laws they want the authorities to enforce.

When government figures of authority decide to create their own laws and force people to abide by them, the government has fallen from its original state; and is fast becoming a dictatorship.

The United States of America has become divided: in its politics and policies, in its procedures, in its opinions, in its actions. “United we stand, divided we fall”. Consequently, the United States has fallen in its ability to govern “for the people”.

Increased population brings differences of opinions in every arena of life. This is natural and is even more reason to insist politicians leave personal opinions behind when voting on a new proposed law.

Did the people of the United States have a way to vote on what effects us regarding health care? No. Instead, we voted someone to represent us in Congress.

Did the congressmen take a vote to let their districts determine what they wanted regarding health care? No. Instead they cast their votes to reflect their own personal opinions.

Due to a DIVISION in government, the people of the United States will suffer drastically.  A few short polls do not give the people of our country any legal say regarding a healthcare plan.

Today, all Americans are now forced to have health insurance. Some people believe this is a fair policy because it’s government regulated.

However, just having health insurance will never make a healthier American. People have had private health insurance for years and still are not “healthy”. With everyone having health insurance, doctors will be at a premium with too many people to see. Therefore, the medical practices will become less efficient.

Have you ever gone to a doctor only to wait for an hour in the waiting room? How long do you think you’ll have to wait now? Perhaps you won’t even get to see the doctor, but rather be forced to see an under-qualified assistant.

The freedom given us by our founding forefathers is being compromised left and right. It will become far worse before it becomes better.

What is the price of freedom? What is the price of health?

Both are priceless.

If I had a crystal ball, I would most likely see a few generations pass before the people of the United States have to overthrow the government and put it back into the hands and laws “of the people”.
