Is A Background Check on Someone Prying?
When the Internet boom was in its infancy and people were just starting out, I could find information online about my ancestors, old friends and acquaintances, etc. for free.
Today, it’s all business. There’s nothing wrong with that! We all are doing business on the Internet in one way, shape, or form. The Internet has changed the way people do business.
I love the Internet. I love what it can do for me and for my business. But I also love what it can do for my personal life, as well.
I’m single. I’m not writing here about using the Internet for dating, per se. However, if I were interested in dating, I would suggest becoming a ‘bloodhound’ of sorts. I want to know a little more about people who are pursuing me!
A few years ago I joined a well-known dating site. I know I chased away more than a few people by asking too many questions. After all, if I had started out early in life with that ’special someone’, by the time I reached the age I’m at now, I would know that person pretty well. I would know about their families, their attitudes, their personal and work habits, etc. I would know how many times they moved and where; I would know how many times they attended their children’s events and how (or if) it was important to them. These are things you find out by questioning. In other words, give me an open book.
Yikes, people don’t feel comfortable giving some stranger from the Internet secrets about their personal affairs. It may be sensed as “nosy” or “prying”. Yet, to get to know someone WELL, these things are necessary. When I started asking too many personal questions, I sensed the recipients getting uneasy, squeamish; and consequently, they quickly became non-pursuers!
Along comes “Search”. I always search the name of someone. Find out if they post on the Internet and where. Find out where their name comes up in a forum, for instance. What are they writing about? What are they interested in?
To add to that, I use Background Check – US SEARCH. Here is where I really can learn something about the ’special someone’! Prying, you say? Spying? Not hardly. I do not mind if someone does the same to me. In fact, I would expect it. I have nothing to hide. “Big brother” is watching all of us anyway. The government knows all about us. Censorship is what???
Businesses have done background checks on potential employees for generations. The Internet has just made it faster and more efficient. I love it!
So, next time you have a new stranger in your life, be it neighbor, partner, teacher, babysitter . . . take a moment to check them out at Background Check – US SEARCH. You may be surprised.
